Election Democratic Donkey on Disc Ornament
- A Kurt Adler Ornament
This glass disc is double-sided with a painted blue donkey and red and white stripes to compliment on both front and back as well as blue glittered sides. The donkey became associated with the Democratic party in the 19th century, when Andrew Jackson ran for president in 1828 and his opponents called him a jackass (a donkey). Jackson then decided to use the image of this strong beast on his campaign posters! When Thomas Nast used the donkey in his newspaper cartoons, he then linked the donkey to the Democrats forever and so history was made. This ornament is terrific for an election year or a fun ornament for a Patriotic themed tree!
